There is currently
a bill in Congress, HR 808, that calls for a new cabinet post to advise the president in ways to reduce domestic
and international violence, to create a U.S. Peace Academy, and to teach violence prevention and conflict resolution
skills to all K-12 students. Please contact your Congressperson and urge him/her to support HR 808.
In addition,
there is an appeal for a related New York City Council Resolution 627 to support the creation of a U.S. Department
of Peace. It already has 15 co-sponsors. Please contact your City Councilperson to support Resolution 627.
