Subject: Neighborhood Captains
Dear Empowerment Day Neighborhood Captains,
First,
I would like to thank you for volunteering to serve as Neighborhood Captains for Drop the Rock Empowerment Day. We currently
have 28 Captains, and 15 confirmed target neighborhoods (with recent additions of Crown Heights and Far Rockaway)! With
your leadership, this unique initiative can be a huge success. We appreciate the time and energy which you are providing
to the project.
I would like to remind you that there is
Neighborhood Captain Training this Tuesday, September 16th at 6PM at the CA (in the small conference room, not the
large room where we normally meet). At this training, we will review all the logistics for the day, and learn (or re-learn)
how to conduct non-partisan voter registration.
*If you are unable to join us for this training, please let me know as soon as possible. I have booked our conference
room for Friday, September 19th at 3pm for an additional training if necessary.*
Each neighborhood will need to have one small folding table and two chairs. We are asking Neighborhood
Captains to try and speak with an agency in your community to see if they are able to lend us these items to us on Empowerment
Day. Please let me know if you have questions about this. [Tables tentatively secured for East Harlem, Central Harlem,
and South Bronx.]
Please continue to talk to folks in your neighborhoods about
participating in Empowerment Day. We need as many volunteers as we can get. Keep me in the loop if you are successful
in recruiting new volunteers for your team.
Drop the Rock!
